Along with blogs, social bookmarking and social networking, wikis are widely viewed as an integral component of any suite of educational technologies available for use by staff and students. They are particularly useful for collaborative content development.
During 2009 we’re piloting the (premium private label) Wikispaces wiki platform here at UNSW.
It was selected for pilot based on:
- wikifarm capability – fast, simplified creation of independent wikis
- reputation
- ease of mastery and use
- the ability to easily embed rich media and RSS
- customisation potential
- WSSO and integration potential
